Homeless Veteran
01/12/04 |
As I stood in a long line,
I picked up plastic spoon and bowl,
The food smells good, aromas bring back childhood days of tomato soup warm and crackers.
The children go by quickly, some cant eat because their fingers are cold from the streets.
I am still hungry, thinking of the long chow lines in Nam.
My hair is uncombed and street dirt covers my shoes, mainly from long walks today.
The shelter folks try hard knowing their meals must feed their flock.
The lunch lines get longer and longer as crys of "I'm Hungry" is heard at noon and 5 o'clock.
I know because I have been in many shelters as the many homeless vets join me in this one.
Sometimes I take my cookies and banana and save it for my night snack, thanks from all the homeless vets.
Homeless female veteran, this is written with memories of the streets.

Brave Soldiers
01/06/05 |
I have seen them cry for mercy at the end,
Young men and women of all ages,
They are doing their best to defend.
Bombs and rockets blasted all night.
We heard the blasting sights.
Medics do their best to assist,
The medics know of the risks.
Remembering war is a nightmare,
The soldiers didn't know what was out there.
The soldiers are proud of their flag,
It flew over them thru rage and fury.
All our brave men and women fight to the end.
We don't stop until our flag flys red, white and blue in the winds.
Dedicated to all of our brave servicewomen and men in Iraq.

Memories Of Katrina
11/15/05 |
Natures fury has taken our home,
New Orleans has drown in a disaster storm.
People fight to survive,
Mercy is needed to stay alive.
Soldiers came with food and drink, they cared.
Babies died, elderly citizens drown from neglect.
Criminals looted and raped, they didn't care about respect.
New Orleans police ran, they were cowards of the storm.
Five days without food and drink,
Surviving was at it's lowest brink.
Drain water ran on our roofs, walls fell with destruction.
There is darkness in 'The Big Easy".
Air Force choppers rescued me from hell, while politicians failed us.
I feel as though I survived a hellhole of terror and death.

Candlelight
11/30/05 |
Candles glow all around the world,
Love, joy and happiness lives in our souls.
Christmas is a time of love,
Heaven pours it's glory to all mankind.
Candlelight in our homes gives our hearts life,
Over the land, churches come together Christmas Eve,
Lights glitter and songs of praise are told.
Our Christmas story shows candlelights.
My heart is alive on this special holiday night.

Easter Arises
02/01/06 |
March is a rainy month of winds and regrowth,
April brings natures Easter flowers,
Tulips,dogwoods, lilies arise.
Stems of beauty grow toward the sun,
Buds appear daily by sunrise.
Easter is a day of revivals,
Blooms appear each warm day,
Yellow, pinks, blue hyacinths show survival.
